Despite having a less impressive regular season than 2018’s campaign, Ghana Police Service are heavy favorites to progress to the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division.
The team plays Ghana Fire Service tonight at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu at 16:00 GMT with a place in the finals at stake.
Police won last season’s league title on the back of an excellent season where the team beat arch rival Braves of Customs twice in the league and won the CAP 7 Memorial Tournament.
However, Police has lost in three straight games to Braves this season; twice in the league and in the CAP 7 Tournament. Police lost the title following a 29-31 loss.
Customs qualified comfortably to the finals by beating Reformers of Prisons 65-34 last night at the same venue. Should Police progress to final, the winner is to be decided in a best of three games series later this month.
Fire Service ended the regular season with the third seed and has former Ghana Basketball Awards MVP nominee Carlyn Adjei on its roster.
