The US College Men’s Basketball Regular Season has commenced and earlier this morning, two Ghanaian players were in action.
San Diego State University beat Texas Southern University 77-42 in the opening game of the season with Nathan Mensah and Joel Mensah playing for San Diego.
Joel came off the bench and played 19 minutes registering 11 points, five rebounds and an assist while Nathan started the game at Center and also played 19 minutes.
Nathan registered 10 points, two blocks and seven rebounds in the season opening game for the Aztecs who were also interested in Ghanaian High School player Ebenezer Dowuona before he committed to North Carolina State University.
Mensah Nathan injured his thumb during practice ahead of this season and underwent surgery early in October marking the second time in a row he suffered a hand injury before the start of the season.
His recovery fit into the estimated timeline and ended up registering scoring in double digits and grabbing three offensive rebounds.
Both players are in their second year at San Diego; the Aztecs play Brigham Young University on Saturday, November 9.
