Sakumono Titans, Tema Heat and Tema Rockets were victors in Tema Community Basketball League games played earlier tonight at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
Titans recovered from a 29-48 loss to Rockets in the previous round to beat Spintex Knights 45-37 in a surprising result that keeps Sakumono in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Sakumono led through the entire game with Knights most potent threat coming in a 12-14 first quarter loss that had Sydney Larbie and Okoe Johnson score for Titans.
Knights had a 5-0 run in the final quarter including a three point shot from Elvis Pobi-Siaw but Titans’ James Amotoh dazzled in the second half to give Titans the win; he also had the game’s highlight moment when he pulled off a one handed alley oop dunk.
Akatsi Rifles made a brilliant start but lost its way in the final stretch to lose 32-28 to Tema Heat; Rifles led 11-2 at the end of the first quarter and the game was tied at 14 at the end of the second quarter and 20 at the end of the third quarter.
Guard Samuel Nyantakyi’s three point play was crucial in deciding the outcome of the game; Heat lost in the 2018 Finals Series.
Tema Rockets recorded a second win in a row after beating Francophone All Stars 33-32 in a very feisty encounter that had a lot of action from the free throw line.
Reigning champions Nungua Coldstore’s matchup against Tema Community 2 ended in a forfeit win for Coldstore since C2 did not show up for the encounter.
