West Africa Senior High School (WASS) has emerged winners of the Accra Mayor’s Cup Girls Division following a 13-11 win over Accra Wesley Girls High School.
The game took place at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Ghana’s capital, Accra; this is the maiden edition of the competition held in honour of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah.
WASS got the go ahead shot from the free throw line to ice the game from Center Ruth Azumah to clinch the win and the trophy.
WASS held an 11-6 half time lead but Accra Wesley Girls played better in the second half to make the game close. The team will rue misses to win the game.
Irada Yunus and Ayisha Abubakar contributed to the win; Accra Wesley came into the competition in good form after bagging the Dynamics School Level Tournament.
St. Mary’s Senior High School and Accra High School competed in the Division. The tournament was put together to honour Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah.
