Ghana's Braves of Customs competed in BAL qualifiers in 2019

Ghanaian side Braves of Customs has dropped its third game in a row in the ongoing Basketball Africa League (BAL) preliminary qualifiers in Cotonou, Benin.

Braves lost 46-64 to Nigelec Basketball in a must win for Braves to all but end the team’s chances of progressing from Group B.

Heading into the game, Braves had lost games against ASPAC from Benin and National Ports Authority (NPA) Pythons from Liberia. Braves lost 70-74 to Pythons and 59-82 to ASPAC.

Center Daniel Ayarna was the only Customs player to score in double figures; the burly defender registered 11 points and six rebounds. For the first time in the competition, Forward Daniel Aryee failed to score in double figures as he put up nine points.

Again Braves woeful shooting from three point range affected the team’s chances of bagging a win; Customs converted just four of 30 three point shots in the game.

The team plays Abidjan Basketball from Ivory Coast in its final game on Saturday, November 2. Abidjan beat Pythons 76-62.
