Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghanaian basketball team Braves of Customs has arrived in Benin ahead of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers.

The preliminary round of qualification games in Group B commence later today in Benin’s capital, Cotonou with Braves aiming to progress to the Elite 16 stage of the competition.

The league is a joint venture between the NBA and basketball governing body on the continent FIBA Africa and games in the Group are the last to be played at the preliminary level.

Braves have been drawn against Abidjan Basketball Club from Côte d’Ivoire, ASPAC from Benin, AS Nigelec from Niger and National Port Authority – Pythons from Liberia.

Only the top two ranked teams qualify from the Group; the qualifiers end on Sunday, November 3.

Games in the final stages beyond the Elite 16 are to be played in Rwanda’s Kigali Arena later in March, 2020.

Teams like City Oilers from Uganda, AS Police and Ferroviario Maputo have qualified to the Elite 16.
