The Tema Community 4 Basketball Court like most courts in Ghana’s capital, Accra were inundated by water from a heavy downpour that hit the city this past weekend.
The rains were a major concern throughout the entire past week with persistent showers hitting the West African nation in an odd time. This is usually the time Ghana experiences drier weather.
The odd weather pattern affected Tema Community Basketball League games this past weekend forcing league officials to cancel games.
League games in the latter part of the 2019 regular season league schedule were set to be honoured at the Community 4 Court on Sunday, October 13.
One of the games involved top ranked side Spintex Knights; the league debutant was scheduled to play Francophone All Stars with Francophone fighting to secure a playoffs seed.
Despite the growth of basketball in Ghana, the sports development continues to be hindered by infrastructural challenges centered on unroofed playing venues.
Nungua Coldstore leads the league.
