Games in basketball leagues in Ghana’s capital, Accra were forced to be postponed due to heavy rains that hit most parts of the city this past weekend.
In the Accra Basketball League (ABL), two games in the Women’s Division were called off as the rains set in on the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
The venue is uncovered leaving it at the mercy of the natural elements and over the years, searing heat and heavy rain from tropical weather has affected the quality of the surface.
Ghana Police Service game against University of Ghana (UG) didn’t take place on Saturday, October 13 after Braves of Customs game against Tudu Galaxy was halted in the first quarter and later postponed due to the wet weather.
On the other side of the capital, four games were postponed in the Tema Community Basketball League due to rains on Sunday, October 13.
Games involving Tema League champions Nungua Coldstore and debutant Spintex Knights were affected by the rains. Most courts in Ghana are unroofed and are affected whenever it rains.
