Ghana Fire Service recovered from an 11-17 first half deficit to clinch a 34-33 win over Ghana Air Force in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division.
Originally scheduled as one of three games to be played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu earlier today, the matchup turned out to be the only game honoured due to rain.
Fire trailed 22-25 heading to the final quarter but Guard Carlyn Adjei went on a seven point run including a three point shot to give Fire a one point lead (29-28) midway through the fourth quarter.
However, Air Force Guard Grace Yinamyah got points from the free throw line late on but missed a wide open layup which would have given her team the game’s lead with mere seconds left to play to hand Fire the win.
Two games in the Women’s Division were to be played after but rainfall interrupted the fixtures; Braves game against Tudu Galaxy tipped off but got called off in the first quarter.
Ghana Police Service game against University of Ghana did not take place. Panthers concluded its matchup against Junior Reformers with a 60-45 despite playing the game shorthanded. The game was rained off on Friday, October 11.
