Ghana Forward Ben Bentil has made his debut with Greek giant Panathinaikos in the EuroLeague this season after missing the opening game.
Bentil played a peripheral role in Panathinaikos 78-79 loss to French side ASVEL in the preliminary round of the continental championship.
The 24 year old played just three minutes in the loss and recorded just a rebound for the team he signed for in the offseason. Teammate DeShaun Thomas led all players with 22 points.
Bentil has had a slow start to life for his new team with the Ghanaian international ineligible to compete in the domestic competition due to a limit on foreign players in the Greek League.
This is the former Providence College standout’s maiden run in Europe’s premier competition since he became a professional in 2016.
After a two year run with Providence he declared for the NBA Draft and was drafted 51st overall by Boston Celtics and has played in China and European clubs including Greek side Peristeri.
He holds the record as the only Ghana born player to play in the NBA after suiting up albeit briefly for Dallas Mavericks.
