Ada Knights delivered a huge 66-54 win over University of Ghana (UG) in the ongoing 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II season.
Knights scored the important win in games played at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu on Friday, October 4. Two other games were played on the day and had Tema Youth beat Ghana Police 63-61.
Knights took a 31-22 second quarter lead on the back of an
improved display with the team generating a trio of three point shot conversions.
Joshua Annan added a couple of shots off consecutive offensive rebounds.
Gracefield Attoh and Abibu Aminu each scored from three point range. Treasure
Botchway and Bright Amankwah scored for UG in the first quarter,
Abibu pulled off an in and out move but got fouled on a
shooting attempt. He completed the three point play from the free throw line.
Clement Tetteh scored a three pointer to give Knights a 40-29 with 2:23 minutes
remaining. Abdallah Yusif scored a layup off a strong drive to the basket and 9
blocked a three point shot attempt from Abibu as Knights led 46-31.
Frankie Williams drained a deep shot for UG early in the
fourth quarter. Kissmeth Ashidan spun beautiful to score for Knights. Yusif
scored a circus three point shot to give Knights a 58-36 lead with four minutes
left.
UG went on a 10 point run to reduce the deficit to 48-58 with 2:27 minutes remaining. Knights struggled to score after Center Annan fouled out of the game but got a pair of three point shots late to ice the game.
