Ghana Small Forward Ben Bentil is set to compete in the EuroLeague Basketball Tournament for the first time in his career tonight.
Bentil’s Panathinaikos side plays Red Star Belgrade at 18:00 GMT in the premier competition on the European continent. The 24 year old signed with the Greek Giant earlier this offseason.
The Sekondi native is one of several high profile players signed by Panathinaikos prior to the season; fellow former NBA players Jimmer Fredette and Wesley Johnson were signed.
However, Bentil won’t compete in the Greek League due to a limit on non-local players but has been cleared to participate in the EuroLeague.
Bentil who plays Power Forward also didn’t compete in Panathinaikos season opening 89-68 win over AEK Athens this past weekend.
The 6 foot 8 inch player had a solid season with Peristeri GS averaging 12 points and 6.7 rebounds before his move to Panathinaikos.
Bentil is the first Ghana born player to be drafted into the NBA and play in the NBA after suiting up for Dallas Mavericks.
