Sakumono Titans Basketball Club was on the winning end of its matchup against Akatsi Rifles in the Tema Community Basketball League.
Titans beat Rifles 44-37 in the league matchup played over this past weekend at Tema’s Community 4 Court.
Okoe Johnson scored the game’s first set of points for
Titans. Agudzumegah and Mark Combey got a couple of baskets before Dennis
Boateng scored from the free throw line to give Rifles a 9-8 first quarter
lead.
Titans went on an eight point run early in the quarter to
lead 16-9. Derrick Boateng buried a three pointer and Dennis Boateng scored a
layup off a beautiful drive. Titans took an 18-14 first half lead.
Nana Owusu Afriyie got in on the scoring act for Titans with
Simon Aphour. Combey scored a three pointer in a frustrating quarter for Rifles
who trailed 23-33.
Rifles moved the ball inside the paint beautifully to get
back in the game with a six point (32-38) with 6:20 minutes remaining. James
Amotoe drained a pair of jump shots and Agudzumegah scored the final shot of
the game with a layup off a missed free throw from Emmanuel Mensah.
