2018 winners of the CAP7 Memorial Basketball Tournament Men’s Division title, Adenta Leopards, opened their title defense with a hard fought win over Tesano Icons.
Leopards beat Icons 56-53 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu on Thursday, September 19; Tudu Galaxy registered a 46-39 win over Adabraka CYO in the other Men’s Division matchup of the day.
Adenta Leopards led 29-21 at half time with both teams displaying great plays on the night. Muhaimin Guba delivered the assist of the night with an acrobatic no look feed on a basket.
Emmanuel Wolff drained a three point shot for Leopards after coming off a screen. Dennis Antwi completed two three point plays and Emmanuel Ocquaye who joined Icons from Ghana Fire Service for this tournament added four points to give Icons a 37-36 third quarter lead.
Kwame Opoku and Wolff scored to give Adenta a 40-37 lead early in the final quarter but Benjamin Omari-drafted from Ghana Police Service- tied the game with a three pointer. After exchanging baskets, Guba got Adenta back in the lead with a layup. Opoku sealed a 56-53 for Adenta from the free throw line after Icons got slapped with technical fouls for dissent against a game official.
