The 2019 edition of the CAP7 Memorial Basketball Tournament will be competitive according to tournament organizer Ibrahim Mohammed.

He made the statement in an exclusive chat with Basketballghana.com with the competition due to tip off at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu on Wednesday, September 18.

The tournament has 14 teams competing with eight teams in the Men’s Division and six in the Female Division. Adenta Leopards and Ghana Police Service are defending champions in the respective divisions.

Unlike last year’s edition that had teams paired in groups, the upcoming competition’s format is in single elimination meaning teams don’t have multiple chances to progress from the group stage. The presence of debutants is another reason according to Mohammed.

“This year’s edition is going to be very competitive because we have three debutants in the male division (Junior Reformers, DUNK Knights and University of Ghana) and in the Ladies edition, we have Ghana Navy making their debut…so this year it is going to be very competitive” he said.
