The format for this year’s edition of the CAP7 Memorial Basketball Tournament is via single elimination according to one of the competition’s organizers Ibrahim Mohammed.

Mohammed made this statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com as the tournament start date draws close.

The 2019 CAP7 Tournament tips off on Wednesday, September 18 at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu with 14 teams competing.

Eight teams are in the Men’s Division while six teams are in the Women’s Division including respective winners Adenta Leopards and Ghana Police Service.

Unlike last year’s competition that had teams placed in groups that offered teams multiple chances to qualify to the knockout stage, this year’s tournament is different.

“The major difference in this year’s tournament is that it is a single elimination tournament if you lose you are going home so you have to play hard” Mohammed said.

CAP7 is played in honour of former Accra Basketball League (ABL) Chairman Benjamin Baafi who passed away after a lengthy battle with illness.
