Tema Youth v Warriors (blue) in ABL Game

Tema Youth tumbles to seventh place in Accra League Tema Youth Basketball Club’s terrible run in the second round of the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division season is affecting the team’s chances of making the playoffs.

The team has lost five straight games since the second half of the campaign commenced in August and that led to Tema’s fall from second place in the nine team standings to seventh place. Tema lost 44-54 in its last matchup against Tudu Magic after a poor start to the game where the perennial runner up in the league trailed 18-41 at the end of the third quarter.

An excellent shooting performance in the final quarter from Shooting Guard Brian Kwami got his Tema side back in the game. However, the comeback couldn’t be completed as Magic got points from Guard Ibrahim Mohammed and a pair of three point shots from Shadrach Quaye to maintain Magic’s lead.

Tema has won six of 13 games and 19 points thus far in the campaign. Only the top four teams will compete in the postseason. Below is a full breakdown of the standings:
