Nigeria and Angola have been busy preparing for the 2019 FIBA World Cup by engaging in friendly games this past weekend.

Nigeria’s Senior Men’s National Basketball Team-D’Tigers- beat Poland 87-84 in the Peak International Tournament after losing its first game in the tournament against Iran.

The 2015 African Champions had to get its win the hard way after recovering from a 16 point deficit to grab the three point win.

A trio of Nigerian players scored in double digits with Vincent Gabe Nnamdi leading the way with 23 points. Josh Okogie scored 16 and Ben Uzoh added 11 points.

AJ Slaughter scored 16 points for Poland. Nigeria recorded a win over Canada in an earlier preparatory game in North America.

However, Angola lost 65-84 to Czech Republic in the Four Nations Tournament in South Korea. Three Angolan players scored in double figures led by Valdelcio Joaquim’s 14 points.

Angola and Nigeria are among five African countries set to compete at the World Cup. Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Senegal are due to compete in China.
