A handful of prominent basketball ambassadors have met with Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo Basketballghana.com gathers.

The President met with the personalities during a busy stretch this time of the year as Ghana marks exactly 400 years since the first ship sailed from its waters with slaves across the Atlantic Ocean. The event is dubbed “The Year of Return”.

Ghanaian-British born former NBA player Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Basketball Africa League Vice President of Operations and Head of Strategy John Manyo-Plange and Yaw Sakyi-Afari were among the entourage that met President Akufo-Addo.

Plans on the construction of an indoor world standard basketball arena was the lead item for discussion and Ghana’s President promised to ensure the arena was built per reports reaching Ghana’s leading hoops.

Earlier in the week, hint of the meeting was revealed by Manyo-Plange during the Mensah-Bonsu’s Basketball Camp held in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

The two day camp had over 100 young boys and girls participate. Since retiring, Mensah-Bonsu has moved into administration becoming General Manager of Capital City Go-Go in the NBA’s Gatorade League.

    Many other College, and professional basketball players around the world and in Ghana.
    When will Ghana unleash it’s basketball talent to conquer all of Africa?
    I know one Ghana kid I went to school with in U.S he was talented waaa in basketball he should easily be playing for National team. I don’t know what happen to that guy, i think he said he will try Fiba, but if not he will apply for regular office job ahh, its a shame.
