Nigeria’s Senior National Men’s Basketball Team (D’Tigers) has recovered from a loss to Canada to clinch an encouraging win over the same opponent in a series of friendly games.

Nigeria beat Canada 90-81 after falling 87-96 to the North American nation earlier this week in Toronto as both nations prepare for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Shooting Guard Jordan Nwora led Nigeria and all players in scoring by registering 19 points in DiTigers win with Canadian duo of Phillip Scrubb and Aaron Best scoring 12 points respectively.

In the first game, Canada Forward Kelly Olynyk injured his knee and has been subsequently ruled out of the World Cup but is expected to be ready for the NBA season for Miami Heat.

Nigeria is in Group B alongside South Korea, Argentina and Russia while Canada is in the Group of Death-Group D- with Senegal, Australia and Lithuania.

Canada has been hit with a slew of withdrawals from established players like Andrew Wiggins, Jamaal Murray, Tristan Thompson and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for varied reasons.
