Egypt shocked pretournament favourite Angola to reach the final game of the 2019 FIBA African Under 16 Girls Basketball Championship.

The North African nation stunned Angola 71-50 in the semifinals to set up a big clash against Mali in the final set to be played later tonight.

Angola steam rolled to the semifinals after topping Group A with maximum points but came unstuck against the Egyptian team that beat Tanzania 88-41 in the quarterfinals.

Despite scoring a game leading 34 points, Angola’s Sara Caetano was the sole threat; no other Angolan player scored in double digits.

Egypt on the other hand, had Aya Elfiky score 17 points and Lojain Elfatairy score 18 points in a big win for the North Africans.

The final game against Mali tips off at 16:30 GMT tonight with a place at the World Under 17 Championship up for grabs.

Mali beat Mozambique 102-25 and heavily tipped to successfully defend the continental title. Mozambique plays Angola at 14:00 GMT today.

Rwanda’s Kigali Arena is the host venue.
