Angola has recorded the most wins in the preliminary stage of the ongoing 2019 FIBA Under 16 Girls Basketball Championship in Rwanda.
The team scored a 71-48 win over Tanzania in its final game to lead Group A with six maximum points after recording wins over Rwanda and Egypt.
Angola qualifies straight to the semifinals and will not feature in the quarterfinals with the remaining nations set to compete in the quarterfinals on Thursday, August 1.
Host Rwanda is still without a win in the seven team tournament South Africa failed to show up. The competition is taking place at the newly built Kigali Arena.
Rwanda lost 37-62 to Mozambique after falling 36-42 and 49-68 to Tanzania and Angola respectively and is without a win heading to the quarterfinals.
Defending champions Mali beat Egypt 88-57 to lead Group B with maximum points from winning two games. Mali hammered Uganda 2018-32 in the opening game. No games are to be played today.
