Ghana born French International Shooting Guard Billy Yakuba Ouatarra has resigned with Monaco Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The 27 year old who was born in Tepa in Ghana’s Ashanti Region will return to the French Principality club for the 2019-2020 season.
After a brief stint in the NBA’s Gatorade League with Long Island Nets-Brooklyn Nets affiliate in the Development League-Ouatarra returned to France and teamed up with Monaco.
In the past season, the wing player averaged 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 25.7 minutes in 38 games played. He added 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 14 games in the EuroCup.
Monaco missed out on winning the French title after losing 2-3 in the five game series against ASVEL. Ouattara led his team several times in the playoff run.
His form led to a call up to the French Pro A League All Star team and a reserve spot on the French National Team for the 2019 World Cup once the season ended.
The final roster is to be announced early in August ahead of the tournament.
