Tema Wildcats lost another game in the 2019 Tema Community Basketball League with the defining moment taking place in the final quarter.

Wildcats lost 35-39 to Tema Rockets in the last round of games played at the Tema Community 4 Court this past weekend.

Despite going on a seven nothing run to trail by two points midway through the final quarter, Wildcats failed to tie the game and get the game’s led. The loss is Wildcats seventh in 11 games this season.

The very young team also lost to defending league champions Nungua Coldstore under similar circumstances earlier in the season.

Rockets led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter despite Wildcats Richie Masi making a steal and scoring a layup to beat the buzzer.

Rockets Mawuli Adatsi scored four straight points, Richard Borsah added a three point shot and Aninagyei Osei scoring in the big run to lead 22-8. Wildcats Alexander Tawiah drove to the basket and dished a beautiful pass for Samuel Arthur to score. Rockets led 24-12 at the end of the first half.

Philip Amralo extended Rockets lead with a jump shot. Tawiah scored off a missed layup and Prince buried a corner three pointer for Wildcats to trail 19-28. Wildcats missed a host of good looks at the rim and took a 21-30deficit to the final quarter.

Masi, Prince and Frederick Yambe scored as Wildcats went on a seven point run to trail 28-30. McMartey Lawer ended the run with a tough layup before Amralo and Adatsi combined to give Rockets a 36-28 lead. Amralo scored another layup off a drive to lead Rockets to a four point win.
