A week after ending Nugua Coldstore’s unbeaten run in the 2019 Tema Community Basketball League, Tema Heat came unstuck in its follow up game after the big win.
Heat lost 33-48 to Spintex Knights over the past weekend round of games played at the Tema Community 4 Court.
Consistency has bothered last season’s finalist all year and it the lows returned immediately after the highs of beating Coldstore 46-41.
On the other hand, Knights clinched its sixth win in ten games and another win could push the team to a top three finish at the end of the first round.
Knights run off to a 5-0 lead with John Okumoh among the scorers. Patrick Gomerli and Issac Doku’s three point shot tied the score. Kontor Appiah scored after several missed and Bashiru Mohammed delivered a two handed slam off a missed shot to give Knights a 10-5 lead but Gomerli buried two free throws to cut the deficit to three points at the end of the first quarter.
In a fiery second quarter, Knights got baskets from three point range with Appiah burying three of those and Pobi Siaw adding three of his own. Heat got baskets off drives from Fred Yeboah, Gomerli and Andrews Ayienab. Knights led 29-19 at half time.
Yeboah, Mubarak and Ayeinab scored for Heat and Knights got baskets from Pobi Siaw’s three pointer and a layup from Bashiru. Okumoh got another three pointer for Knights to give his side a 40-27 third quarter lead.
Okumoh opened the fourth quarter with a two handed slam with Maha getting on the board late on as Knights controlled the rest of the game.
