Adabraka CYO has pulled off another impressive win in the 2019 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I. CYO beat Ghana Police Service 59-50 at the Prisons Court in Cantonments on Saturday, July 13 bouncing back from a 54-56 loss to Tema Youth.
Nana Kwame scored the game’s first four points for CYO. Benjamin Omari of Policeresponded with six points including an easy layup off a brilliant pass movement involving Elvis Pobi Siaw and Benjamin Debrah. CYO settled late on to lead 15-6.
Debrah scored five points as Police went on an 11-4 run to trail 21-24 with 3:05 remaining in the second quarter. Gabriel Ashaley scored for CYO on a couple of drives. Jeffrey Abakisi scored for Police off an offensive rebound to tie the score at 24. Police led 29-27 at half time.
Emmanuel Dickson came off the bench replacing the injured Debrah and drained a three pointer almost instantly giving Police a 32-31 lead. Nana Kwame drained a three point shot to restore CYO’ s lead. Adabraka stretched its lead to six points (41-35) at the end of the third quarter after scoring a fastbreak layup off a Police turnover.
Both teams traded baskets but CYO held a 54-47 lead with 2:04 seconds remaining. Ashaley drained a pair of free throws and assisted a last second fastbreak layup to deal a 59-50 win for CYO.
