Adabraka CYO and Kawukudi Warriors have grabbed wins in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I games played earlier today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments.
Both teams had to battle really hard for the wins. CYO clinched a 59-50 win over Ghana Police Service while Warriors beat Reformers of Prisons 63-58.
Panthers failed to show up for its scheduled match against Novas; the game was subsequently forfeited and the 20-0 win handed to Novas.
The first game of the day between CYO and Police had Adabraka start strong to lead 15-6 at the end of the first quarter but lose its way in the second quarter to end the half trailing 27-29.
In the final quarter, CYO held a 54-47 lead with 2:04 remaining before Adabraka Guard Gabriel Ashaley drained a pair of free throws to put the game to bed.
The last game between home side Reformers and Warriors lived up to expectation as the teams combined to deliver an entertaining matchup.
Though the game started on a scrappy low scoring note (6-6 after the first quarter), players settled and made the most of the opportunities that went their way.
A three point shooting clinic from Guards Ernest Kojo Ofori and Amos Ollenu turned the game around in the third quarter.
