The 2019 edition of Basketball Without Borders (BWB) program in Africa will take place in Senegal’s capital, Dakar Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The youth development basketball program will run from Sunday, July 21 to Wednesday, July 31 in the newly built Dakar Arena.
This marks the second time the West African nation is hosting the event that seeks to develop young players on various continents in the world.
Senegal last held the event in 2010 with Angola hosting the 2016 edition while South Africa has held the most editions including the 2018 edition.
Per the press statement issued by the NBA, the league “plans to reach more than 2.5 million boys and girls ages 16 and under through Jr. NBA programs in 21 African countries.”
NBA players Joel Embiid of Philadelphia Sixers and Pascal Siakam of Toronto Raptors were participants at previous BWB Africa editions. Siakam won this season’s NBA title and was named the Most Improved Player in the league.
