The Ghana Basketball Awards (GBA), after a two year hiatus, is set to return to the Ghanaian basketball calendar with this year’s event scheduled to take place in August.
As one of the most glamorous events of the year, the awards scheme is highly looked forward to but has not been held due to “challenging reasons” as expressed by organizers Rite Sports Limited.
Several standout players in the West African nation have been nominated and honoured at the prestigious event which is very competitive.
On its return, the 2019 edition of the Awards is to be held at the Chartered Institute of Bankers, the capital Accra on Friday, August 9.
Basketballghana.com understands a technical committee will hold several meetings to determine the shortlist of candidates for the 2019 Awards.
Former winners of top awards at the event include Shooting Guard Baniba Dodzi, 2018 FIBA Zone 3 Club Championship Most Outstanding Defender Suleman Abubakar and Matilda Gordon who was named 2016 Most Valuable Player in the Women’s Division.
