Ghana Senior Men’s 3×3 Basketball Team Captain Benjamin Debrah has expressed his gratitude leading the nation in the just ended African Beach Games in Cape Verde.
The maiden edition of the multi sport games ended over the weekend in Cape Verde with Ghana featuring in the Men’s Division of the world’s most popular urban sport.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com, the veteran Shooting Guard looked on the bright side of featuring in the continental championship.
Despite failing to grab a win in the competition, Debrah was optimistic about the team’s chances in future competitions.
“We are very happy and grateful to be picked to represent the country in the first ever Beach Olympic Games. It was our expectation to get into the medal zone though our group seemed to be the difficult amongst the two groups… but as the Captain of the team, am very happy and proud of my guys for the sacrifice and the zeal to play at all cost to put Ghana on the basketball map. We won’t rest (until) we get to the top” he said.
Ghana lost all games in Pool A including a 17-21 loss to eventual winners Mali. Mali also won the female division.
