Ghana won’t have a podium finish in the 3×3 Basketball Men’s Division at the African Beach Games taking place in Cape Verde.

The competition which started on June 14 is due to end later today but Ghana got eliminated from the 3×3 Basketball competition after failing to clinch a win in three appearances in Pool A.

Ghana lost 17-21 to Mali in the opening game for both teams at the tournament despite having a good start but it is the latter West African nation that will end up on the podium.

Mali beat Cape Verde 16-12 earlier today in the semifinals to book its spot in the final game where the team is set to face Algeria.

The North African nation beat Ivory Coast 19-16 in the other semifinal game in the maiden edition of the beach games on the continent.

Ivory Coast beat host nation Cape Verde 19-17 to place third and clinch the bronze medal. In the Women’s Division, Togo takes on Mali in the final with Nigeria taking the bronze medal after a 21-6 win over Namibia.
