Kenya’s Senior National Female Basketball Team is close to wrapping up preparations for upcoming qualification games to the 2019 Africa Women’s Basketball Championship (AfroBasket).
The Lionesses are expected to be in the running for a place in this year’s continental games after missing out on the last two editions held.
Kenya will battle Rwanda and Uganda in Zone 5 aiming to end its run by booking a spot to Senegal where games are to be played at ultra modern Dakar Arena.
Senegal, Mali, Mozambique, Cameroon, Angola and defending champions Nigeria have already booked their tickets to the competition due to run from August 9-18.
“We know what it takes to qualify and we shall give it our best shot… We are looking forward to the qualifiers and we shall take each game as it comes” Kenya Coach Ronnie Owino said in a chat with FIBA.
Kenya recently played a friendly game against Ghanaian side Braves of Customs and won 52-18. Braves are the dominant team on the Ghanaian scene.
