Ghana’s National 3×3 Basketball Male Team has been drawn in Group A at this year’s African Beach Games taking place in Cape Verde Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The team has been placed in a tough group featuring strong nations including Ivory Coast and the host nation. Fellow West African nation Mali and Algeria from North Africa complete the list of teams in the group.
While Group A is loaded with West African nations, Group B’s representatives are spread out across the continent. Djibouti, Togo, Tunisia and Congo are drawn in the group.
Ghana faces a herculean task to progress to the next stage of the competition that is due to end on Sunday, June 23.
Ivory Coast beat Ghana at last year’s African 3×3 Basketball Championship and Mali is a strong contender to progress alongside the Ivorians.
Participating in the maiden edition of the Beach Games is Ghana’s first major outing since the continental games held in Togo last year.
Team arrived in Cape Verde on Tuesday.
