The first ever African Beach Games 3×3 Basketball competition will commence on Wednesday, June 19 Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The maiden edition of the continental games is taking place in Cape Verde with the opening ceremony celebrated on Friday, June 14.
12 countries are scheduled to battle for medals in the world’s most popular urban sport; medal winners are to be declared this weekend in the West African island nation.
Ghana is competing in the Male Division with the National Men’s Team already in the country for the tournament. The team departed Ghana’s capita, Accra early on Monday.
Games in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions will run concurrently from the start date till the final day of competition. Ghana isn’t represented in the Female Division.
The Men’s team has experienced members; with the exception of Shooting Guard Elvis Pobi-Siaw, the remaining members of the team featured in last year’s 3×3 continental tournament.
Athletes are competing in 11 disciplines overall.
