Ghana Forward Ben Bentil has resigned with Greece A1 Basketball League side Peristeri GS a year after joining the team as a free agent.
Basketballghana.com can confirm the 24 year old signed the new contract prior to Peristeri’s Game 4 loss to AEK in the playoff series for third place in the 2018-2019 league campaign.
That loss meant Peristeri ended its season without a medal losing 1-3 in the best of five game series to AEK on its return to the Greek top flight.
Peristeri got swept in the semifinals by eventual champions Panathinaikos who won its third league title in a row. Panathinaikos got a bye in the first round after Olympiakos pulled out of the competition.
Bentil’s first season in Greece was impressive as he averaged 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 35 games; the 6 foot 8 inch Forward did not play in Game 4 against AEK.
The Sekondi native is the second player to resign after American Point Guard Steven Gray resigned with the team earlier in the playoffs.
Bentil is a former Dallas Mavericks player who was drafted 51st overall in the 2016 NBA Draft.
