Ghana born French Shooting Guard Billy Yakuba Ouatarra is in line to compete in Game One of this year’s French Pro A Basketball League finals tonight against ASVEL.
Tonight’s game represents the first of five game opportunities for the27 year old to clinch his first French league title.
Ouatarra helped Monaco sweep Dijon in the semifinals and qualify to compete against the favorites ASVEL who progressed to the final with a similar record against Nanterre.
In the series clinching 81-78 win over Dijon, Ouatarra registered 15 points-tied for a team high- while adding six rebounds and an assist in 30 minutes.
He started the game and converted seven of 13 shots in the win; Yakuba was prolific from the field as he scored six of eight attempts but was poor from three point range scoring just one of six attempts.
The finals present a huge opportunity for Ouatarra to force his way into France’s National Team roster for this year’s World Cup after being named in the reserve list.
