Winners of the 2018-2019 Greece A1 Basketball League season are Panathinaikos following the team’s sweep of Promitheas in the Finals series.

Panathinaikos clinched a 111-77 win in Game 3 of the best of five game series to complete a sweep of the series. The title is the team’s third league title win in a row and first for former Louisville University Coach Rick Pitino.

However, Ghana Forward Ben Bentil’s impressive run in his first playoff run in Greece continues as he scored 13 points in a Peristeri GS 83-91 loss to AEK in the third place game.

The loss puts AEK in the series lead with a 2-1 advantage despite Peristeri picking up Game One’s win earlier this week.

Peristeri got swept by Panathinaikos in the semifinals despite Bentil scoring in double digits in two of three games and was easily Peristeri’s best player.

Prior to competing for third place against AEK, the 24 year old averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds in six games in the postseason.
