The University of Ghana (UG) Basketball Teams have picked up a long term preparatory plan for the next edition of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
To be in prime shape for the biannual game the University’s Male and Female Teams have enlisted to compete in the Accra Basketball League (ABL).
The Female Team competes in the ABL’s Women’s Division while the Male side plays in the Men’s Division II. Both teams are very likely to improve when the games roll out in January considering the competition in the ABL is quite high.
Due to a few delays, the Male side recently played its debut game against Division leaders Ghana Air Force and scored a 54-47 win.
Air Force held a 47-46 lead late in the final quarter but UG held them in check making Air Force see out the rest of the game without scoring a basket.
The Female side has run into power sides Braves of Customs and defending league champions Ghana Police Service early on and lost heavily. UG lost 22-88 to Police and 14-89 to Braves.
UG’s Male Team won gold in the 2018 GUSA Games with the Female Team placing second behind University of Cape Coast.
