The first batch of athletes set to represent Ghana at the first edition of the Africa Beach Games (SAL) to be held in Cape Verde will depart today per reports Basketballghana.com gathers.

The first Ghanaian contingent will leave the Kotoka International Airport in Accra at 10:30 AM and is expected to touch down in the West African island nation on Wednesday, June 12.

The remaining members of Ghana’s team will fly out in the coming days to make it in time for the multi sport continental games.

The first ever beach games has athletes from 54 countries on the continent ready to compete in 11 sports disciplines including free style soccer and beach volley.

Basketball -specifically 3×3 basketball- is among the 11 disciplines athletes will compete in for medals including members of Ghana’s 3×3 Male Team.

In the lead up to the competition, members of the team were present at the Ghana Olympic Committee Office at Ridge, Accra to have a first look at the official kit for the competition.
