Sakumono Titans and Tema Wildcats represent two of three debutants in the 2019 Tema Community Basketball League season.
Both teams have a very young roster that is athletic, full of speed and stamina but lacks experience to handle game situations in the clutch.
The aforementioned situation panned out this past weekend at the Tema Community 4 Court as Titans and Wildcats lost winnable games late in the final quarter.
Titans lost 39-44 to home side Community 4 with C4 Guard Brian Kwami delivering back to back three point shots to punctuate a 12 point run despite Titans leading the game before the run.
With less than five minutes remaining in the contest, Sakumono’s play degenerated into turnovers, failing to answer defensive assignments and failure to score.
Wildcats lost 32-38 to Nungua Coldstore in the final game on the night after recovering from a 16-24 first half deficit to tie the game at 30 in the fourth quarter.
Trailing 32-34 with under three minutes left to play, Wildcats couldn’t get buckets while Nungua’s Gerald Sappor and Dennis Dugbennu.
