2017 Tema Community Basketball League Champions, Tema Community 4 hit big shots late on to clinch a 44-39 win over Sakumono Titans on Sunday, June 9.
The hard fought win was delivered late in the final quarter as C4 erased a ten point third quarter deficit via top execution from three point range.
Kent Fosu buried a deep three point shot for Community 4 sandwiching Titans run of fast break layups. Simon Aphour scored five points to give Titans an 11- 5 first quarter lead.
Titans got aggressive on defense blocking two shot attempts from Nii Anum. Muhaimin Guba buried two free throws but both teams missed good chances to score more points as the second quarter ended with Community 4 trailing 15-24.
Thomas Amedeku drained a three pointer but Titans continued to score off turnovers grabbing a 30-18 lead with six minutes remaining.
C4 went on a five point run as Guba scored a layup and Brian Kwami drained a three pointer reducing the deficit to five (25-30) with a minute left.
Aphour ended the run after his pump fake beat two C4 players to score an easy layup. Titans Forward Aphour repeated the move to score another layup as C4 applied full court pressure leaving the Titans big man alone in the opposite paint.
C4 went on an epic 12 point run as Kwame drained a pair of three point shots with Guba adding a jumper and Fosu registering another deep three pointer to give C4 a 40-36 lead en route to the five point win.
