Angola’s National Female Basketball Team has wrapped up qualification to the 2019 FIBA Africa Women’s Nations Championship (Women’s AfroBasket).

The Central African nation did so over this past weekend thanks to back to back wins over Zimbabwe in the latter’s capital, Harare.

In a two legged encounter, Angola scored a 99-53 win in Game One and followed it up with a 90-64 win in Game 2 to qualify to compete in yet another continental competition.

The biannual tournament is to be hosted by Senegal after the West African nation was officially named as host beating Mali and Madagascar.

Two time African champions Angola fielded a strong side against a Zimbabwean side that is building towards the future and had the likes of 17 year old Maria Mutengo play. Mutengo scored three points in three minutes.

Angola joins an elite group of countries that have progressed to the competition; Defending champions Nigeria leads the pack with Mali, Senegal, Mozambique, Cameroon and Guinea included in the qualified nations field.
