The very young Tema Wildcats bounced back from a close loss to Tema Community 4 to score a big win over Akatsi Rifles.
Wildcats beat Rifles 36-31 in the latest round of league games played over the weekend condemning Rifles to back to back losses.
Wildcats got on the board first and Rifles Emmanuel Mensah responded immediately. Point Guard Macbeth Combey dished a beautiful no look assist for Eric Adorku to score inside the paint. Makafui Aguzumegah scored a three point shot to cap off a strong response from Rifles to lead the first quarter 10-6.
Rifles got four points early and Kelvin Wornya added a three pointer to give Akatsi a 17-8 lead. Wildcats had a better ending to the half getting points after a beautiful sequence that had Guard Treasure Botchwey provide a bounce pass assist. Rifles led 17-13 at the end of the second quarter.
Back to back deep shots from Wildcats Forward Prince tied the game at 19 and the teams traded baskets before Dennis Boateng scored a corner three pointer to end the quarter with Rifles leading 24-23.
Botchwey scored a layup off a tough drive to spark a Wildcats run. Boateng scored a deep three pointer but that proved not enough as Wildcats clinched a 36-31 win.
