After a two year stint as Head Coach of University of Ghana (UG) Men’s Basketball Team, Basketballghana.com gathers Dr. Baba Samori is leaving his role.

Per information reaching Ghana’s biggest basketball portal from UG’s Sports Directorate, the American based trainer has bid farewell to the institution.

Samori first made an appearance on the UG bench in a major competition at the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

He took over the reins in 2018 and guided UG to clinch two UPAC titles in back to back years including the 2019 edition; that run extended the institution’s dominance in the West African country’s biggest platform for college basketball.

Despite looking shaky in its first game at the quarter final stage, UG recovered to beat Takoradi Technical University 37-32 in the final game.

He was named Coach of the Tournament after his sterling work had UG overturn a second half deficit to beat Takoradi Technical.

Samori also orchestrated UG’s win at the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games in 2018.
