A poor shooting night was one of the major reasons Peristeri GS lost 68-91 to Panathinaikos in the Greece A1 Basketball League playoffs semifinals.
The loss was in Game One of the best of three game series that has Peristeri competing in its first semifinal playoff series in 16 years against one of Europe’s powerhouses.
Ghana Forward Ben Bentil starred for Peristeri once again in the ongoing playoffs by scoring a team leading 19 points and adding 14 rebounds in 29 minutes.
However, his output was not matched by his team who had only two players score in double digits in the game. Gray Steven and Zois Karabelas scored 11 and 12 points respectively.
Overall, poor execution from deep hurt Peristeri’s chances of grabbing a win; the team scored 11 of 29 three point attempts while Panathinaikos scored 11 of 21 three point attempts.
Panathinaikos is coached by former University of Louisville trainer Rick Pitino and need another win to progress to the Finals.
