Ex Mozambique Basketball Federation President Anibal Manave as President of the Board for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Basketballghana.com can confirm.
His appointment comes in light of NBA Managing Director Amdoa Fall’s confirmation as President of the upcoming continental tournament.
The tournament is due to commence in 2020 with 12 teams to compete in the maiden edition and close to 40 games expected to be played from March to May.
The BAL is an NBA-FIBA project aimed at increasing the popularity of basketball on the continent further.
Speaking in the aftermath of the latest appointment, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said, “We are extremely pleased to appoint Anibal Manave and Amadou Gallo Fall to these key positions in the BAL’s leadership…They are the ideal personalities to successfully lead this innovative project; in a chat with FIBA.
Manave is the sitting Vice President of FIBA Africa and has served in multiple role in basketball dating back to his playing days before moving into coaching.
