CYO (yellow) v Reformers
An exciting game between Reformers of Prisons and Adabraka CYO in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I played at the Prisons Court in Cantonments was marred on several occasions by overly physical play in the final quarter.

The game had to be halted multiple times for game officials to calm players and attend to injured players on both sides. However, it was CYO that walked away with a 72-59 win.

The score was tied at 12 at the end of a fast paced first quarter. Reformers got points from Arafat Salam and a surprising three pointer from Center Aziz Mohammed. CYO countered late on getting points in Gabriel Ashaley’s driving layups.

CYO spurned back to back fast break opportunities early on in the second quarter to get in front. Reformers Guard Philip Barley scored off a beautiful drive into the paint but failed to complete the three point play as CYO led 22-16 off jumpers inside the paint from big men Nana Adjei and Melody Edwards. Ashaley piled on points for CYO off drives to give his side a 30-18 first half lead.

Reformers scored a bunch of its points from the three point line with a couple of shots from the charity stripe but CYO continued to dominate on the inside especially after Reformers Center Mohammed fouled out of the game with a minute left to play. Reformers trailed 36-48 at the end of the third quarter and Ben.

The final quarter was rife with ill mannered behavior especially from Prisons as CYO bounced back from 43-74 loss to Adenta Leopards.
