Four teams vying for the maiden FIBA Africa Basketball League (AfroLeague) title finally get their chance with the competition set to get underway later tonight.

The semifinal game, third and fourth placed game and final game are to be played from May 24-26 in Angola’s capital, Luanda.

Defending Champions AS Sale from Morocco takes on fellow North African side JS Kairouan while home side Primeiro do Agosto play Smouha SC from Egypt.

The change from Africa Club Champions Cup to AfroBasket was made prior to the start of this year’s edition of the continental tournament.

Sale is attempting to win back to back titles but need to get past a very strong JSK side that ousted last ES Rades in the quarterfinals. Rades lost to Rades in the last final.

The Moroccan side’s Shooting Guard Wayne Arnold is on the verge of winning three straight African titles after clinching the trophy with Al Ahly and Sale in the past two finals.

Agosto is the most successful African team with eight titles and could clinch a ninth title before its home fans.
