The 2019 FIBA World Cup tips off in 100 days in China with 32 nations due to battle for the world title from August 31 to September 15.

The landmark day was observed by organizers in China earlier today with the launch of the World Trophy Tour. World Cup Ambassador Yao Ming was present for the launch.

This year’s competition is the first to have 32 national teams compete after the roster was increased from 24 and the years of competition moved from even numbered years to odd numbered years after the 2014 World Cup held in Spain.

Eight cities in the Asian powerhouse will host the event which has USA as defending champions and five African nations competing.

Ghana didn’t qualify to the world event but for the first time ever, five nations from the continent will participate in the World Cup.

Angola, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Nigeria will represent Africa and Senegal has been drawn in the Group of Death (Group D) that has Lithuania, Canada and Australia.
