David Ziem of Young Boys Basketball Club has been named winner of the 2018-2019 GSP Basketball League Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award.
He won the Award on the final day of the league that took place on Saturday, May 18 at the Sunyani Technical University (STU) Court.
Ziem topped the seven man nominees list that included teammates Robert Brew and Andy Quansah and last season’s Award winner Isaac Amponsah.
Brew and Amponsah were in line to win the coveted award for the second straight time; had either of the two been named winner, it would have been for the first time in the history of the competition.
Ziem made the choice easy for the selectors after leading his side to clinch its first ever league title thanks to a 32-10 win over close rival Spartans.
Ziem scored nine points and gathered 10 rebounds in the 22 point win for Young Boys who replace Suncity Braves as league champions.
Brew received his award as a member of University of Energy and Natural Resources.
